DONALD GENE MANTZ, Sr., 90, of Waterloo, IL, formerly of Cahokia, IL, born March 13, 1927, in Desloge, MO, died Monday, January 15, 2018, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
Donald was retired from Anheuser-Busch in St. Louis, MO. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of the SIAC; Moose Lodge 423 of Cahokia, IL; the Mayrose Club; the Horseshoe Pitchers Assn.; and the American Bowling Congress.
He was preceded in death by a son, Donald Gene Mantz, Jr.; his parents, Roscoe Lee Mantz, Sr. and Pearl, nee Whiteaker, Holmes; and two brothers, Roscoe Mantz, Jr. and Robert Mantz.
Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Ellen M. Mantz, nee Sindel; his children, Darlene (Rick) Ehrhard of Waterloo, IL and Kevin (Lora) Mantz of Dupo, IL; a daughter-in-law, Sue Mantz of Columbia, IL; two sisters, Norma (Dave) Dickerson of Lake St. Louis, MO and Carol Riggs of Portland, OR; a brother, Jimmy Mantz of DeSoto, MO; two sisters-in-law, Juanita Mantz of Little Rock, AR and Lupe Mantz of Cahokia, IL; six grandchildren, Dal (Christine), Jennifer (Brian), Darryl, Scott (Kristi), Kyle,and Daren; nine great grandchildren, Kaleigh, Drake, Ella, Madison, Reese, Olivia, Darryl Jr., Emerson, and River. He was also a dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend.

Friends may visit from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Braun Family Funeral Home, Columbia, Illinois. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, January 19, 2018, at the funeral home, with Reverend Kris Avise-Rouse officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri.
