Don Ayres 99, of Cahokia, Illinois, born in Ashland Missouri Oct. 27,1924 passed away peacefully at home on December 10, 2023.

Don, a Navy man, was a WWII and Korean War Veteran.  He was proud to be selected for an Honor Flight. A trip he would never forget.  He served the Transportation Industry in management for 37 years working for Thurston Truck Lines,  Orscheln Brothers Trucking and as a consultant for Missouri Dept. Of Transportation. He served as President of the local AARP,  member of American Legion and Veterans Foreign wars.

He had the love of hooking up the camper and taking his family on vacations. One of his favorite spots was Cherokee Village.  But most of all, his love to play golf and attending PGA tours.

He is preceded in death of his parents Lester Louis Ayres, Ruth Christian and brother Lester Louis Jr.

Surviving is his love of his life of 72yrs that he met while in the Navy in North Carolina,  Peggy Ayres. His children Marsha Delaney, Donna Ayres, Rissie (Ron) McComb all of Cahokia, Illinois, and also whom he considered as a son Patrick Brogan of Waterloo, Illinois. Grandchildren Shawn Mackey, Sarah Delaney, Isham Gilbert, James Gilbert, Lenna Huggins, Eddie Leoso, Maylene Baxter, RosaLei Leoso and great grandchildren Kaleb, Kyler, Ellie, Karsyn Leoso, Kai Gilbert, and Mitchell and Rylen  Leoso-Baxter.
