Dixie Rae Johnson, age 83 years, passed away on August 16, 2023 at Bria of Columbia Nursing home in Columbia, IL. She was born on February 25, 1940 to Roy L. and Oma Belle (Meredith) Marsh in E. St. Louis, IL.

Dixie achieved a Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration degree. She retired after 24 years as a civilian supply technician for the US Army. Dixie loved working with stained glass and religious icons. She enjoyed bird watching, reading mystery books and going to the beach with her cousin Mariann Presti. She loved her cats, Mya and Mia.

Dixie was preceded in death by her husband, Gary D. Johnson of 25 years, her first husband, Joseph F. Heinzl, Jr. and her brother, Leroy W. Marsh.

Dixie is survived by her daughters Nancy (Richard) Lane,  Audrey (Harold) Morgan and step-daughter Deborah Pearcy;   nine grandchildren, Kassandra Evilsizer, Joshua Pearcy, Ameyus (Paul) Moore and Jason (Dawne) Morgan, Sonja Roden, Nicole (Jason Toon) Lane, Erika Lane, Amy Lane, and Rachel Lipp;  14 great grandchildren, Gavin (Shyana) Livingston, Olivia and Benjamin Morgan, Aislyn, Cora, and Paul V Moore, Veronica White, Matthew Lane, Ava and Rosa Toon, Taylor, Ethan, Paige and Samantha Lipp; great great grandchildren Nya Rayne Livingston, Harper LeRoy and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 25, 2023 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at Braun Family Funeral Home Columbia, IL. Funeral service will follow. Burial will be at Lake View Memorial Gardens Cemetery Fairview Heights, IL.
