DeLoris "Dee" Godat 91 of Columbia, IL, born August 17, 1930 to Vivian and James Martin who preceded her in death. Dee past away on Friday November 26, 2021.
Dee was a retired lead clerk from Sands Drug Store in Cahokia, IL, for 20 years. She had a long history in volunteering for many organizations, she was a den mother for the Boy Scouts of the Okaw Valley Council, she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 784 in Cahokia, IL, she served as sergeant-at-arms, and held office of president many times for this unit. She also served as president for the county. She was a member of these organizations for 61 years, she was a member of the 8 et 40 for 45 years were she served as Chapeau, L'Aumonier and children and youth chairman. This past year she served as personal page to the departmental Chapeau for the state of Illinois, she also volunteered at Jefferson Barracks Hospital, and Marion Veterans Home. She was also a past president for the 22nd district, she volunteered at the Fox Theater for 17 years, in her spare time she managed to travel to Europe and in the states, she loved taking vacations with family and friends. Her favorite pastime was playing bingo with her many friends.
Along with her parents, Dee was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Godat of whom she was married for 31 years
Surviving are her daughter Dona (Bill) Tankersley of Columbia, IL, and her son Michael (Sheri) Sedovic of Patersbach, Germany her 4 grandchildren Bill (Keri) Tankersley of Waterloo, IL, Jodi (Mike) Juenger of Collinsville, IL, Michael (Elizabeth) Sedovic of Buford, GA, Catlin (Ingo) Heinze of Aachen, Germany. Her 2 younger siblings, who she loved deeply, Connie (Dave) Bannon of Palm Desert, CA, Monty (Lynn) Martin of Imperial, MO. 11 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren all of whom she loved deeply, she was also a loving aunt and friend to many. Dee is now resting with the Lord.
Visitation will be on Thursday December 2, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Braun Family Funeral Home 265 Quarry Rd Columbia, IL. Services on Friday at 12 noon with Pastor Ronnie Carol officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks Natl. Cemetery.
