David Joseph Townsend, 62, of Pontoon Beach, Illinois, formerly of Cahokia, Illinois, born on November 24, 1956 in St. Louis, Missouri, died Sunday, February 10, 2019, at Gateway Regional Hospital in Granite City, Illinois.

David loved to go fishing and was very devoted to making drawings that were very whimsical and clever. Most of his drawings included three cactuses wearing sombreros, which he called "The Three Amigos".

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ann, nee Meyer Townsend.

Surviving are his siblings, Terri (Mark) Roman of Watchung, NJ, Pamela (John) Koch of St. Louis, MO, Mark (Geralyn) Townsend of Maryville, IL, and James Townsend of St. Louis, MO; two nieces, Christina (Brandon Snyder) Townsend of Maryville, IL and Brittney (Ricky) Nickles of St. Louis, MO; a great niece, Kenley; and three great nephews, Nathan, Ricky, and Anthony. He was also a dear nephew, cousin, and friend. David's family would like to thank the employees of Chestnut Healthcare System for the loving care that they gave David over the years.

Friends may visit from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at Braun Colonial Funeral Home, Cahokia, Illinois. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at the funeral home with Father Linus Umoren officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri.
