David A. Shreve, 78, of Cahokia, Illinois, born September 12, 1942 in Cleveland, Ohio, went to be with Paulette on Friday, April 16, 2021 at Belleville Memorial Hospital.

Dave was a retired aircraft mechanic from American Airlines. After retirement Dave worked for Al's Automotive in Cahokia, IL and Finish Master in Belleville, IL. He was a
U.S. Navy veteran and had served as an Aviation Electrician. He graduated from Parks College of Aviation in Cahokia, IL in 1965. Dave just recently completed forty years as a member of the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association (NHPA) and belonged to the Illinois State Horseshoe Pitchers Assn. (ILSHPA), where he was a member of the Horseshoe Pitchers Hall of Fame. He was also a member of the Millstadt and Cahokia Horseshoe Leagues. Over the years, Dave was President of the ILSHPA; President of the Millstadt Horseshoe League; President and Secretary of the Cahokia Horseshoe League; current Regional Director of NHPA; a World Champion Winner Illinois State Champion in several classes. He had won several awards for his pitching including, the Henry Franky Award; the James Korte Award; several time winner of the Player of the Year for the state of Illinois; and also the Regional Director of the Year . Dave also enjoyed bowling. He bowled in leagues at both the Village Bowl in Cahokia, IL and later at West Park Bowl In Columbia, IL. He had bowled a 300 game. Dave was also an avid St. Louis Blues fan.

He was just recently preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Paulette, nee Firebaugh, Shreve (2/2/2021);: a daughter, Dayna M. Shreve; his parents, Howard and Mary, nee Davidson, Shreve..

Surviving are his children, Debbie Herderhorst-Bowen of Dupo, IL, Ed (Denise) Herderhorst of Cahokia, IL, Brenda Herderhorst of Cahokia, IL, David R. Shreve of Cahokia, IL;, Howard Shreve of San Antonio, TX, Suzanne "Shelly" McGee of Collinsville, IL, and Angie Shreve-Swatloski of Monohans, TX; a sister, Susan (Don) Webber of Woodstock, GA; seven grandchildren, Andrea (Greg) Yocum, Kyle Herderhorst, Kailey,Keirstyn, Dayton,Taylin and Mailynn Shreve. He was also a dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend.

Friends may visit from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April , 21, 2021 at Braun Family Funeral Home, Columbia, Illinois. A Memorial Service will immediately follow at 7:00 p.m. with Konrad Faries officiating. Following the Memorial Service a private cremation will be held, in following with Dave's wishes.
