Daniel L. Waterson, 62, of Columbia, Illinois, born November 7, 1960 in Belleville, Illinois, died Monday, October 2, 2023 in Columbia, Illinois.

Dan was a former police officer for the Cahokia Police Department.  After leaving the police dept., he went into business for himself.  He started a contracting business which he ran up until his death.  Dan enjoyed being outdoors - hunting fishing, and riding his old tractor.

He was preceded in death by his father, E. Dale Waterson.

Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Sherry Waterson, nee Menzel; a daughter, Madeline "Cakes" Ann Waterson of O'Fallon, IL; his mother, Patricia Ann (Tom) Schaefer, nee Hohm of Belleville, IL; two brothers, Eric (Malinda) Waterson of Shiloh, IL and T.J. (Stephanie) Schaefer of Tarzana, CA; and a sister, Christy (John) Cole of Ballwin, MO.  He was also a dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, nephew, and friend.

In following Dan's wishes a private cremation was to be held.  A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 4:00 t0 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Braun Family Funeral Home, Columbia, Illinois. A Memorial Service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Larry Ridenour officiating.
