Charles Vernon Edwards,  Sr., 86, of Cahokia, Illinois, born September 22, 1936 in Kennett, Missouri, died Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at his residence.

Charlie was retired from Cummings Welding in Pagedale, MO, after 35 years.  He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church; the Centreville Men's Club; and Knights of Columbus Council 4596 ; all of Cahokia, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie James and Nora Frances, nee Jackson, Edwards; a brother, Billie Edwards; and a sister, Nova Jean Farrell.

Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Virginia Lee Edwards, nee Hawkins; his children, Deborah Lee (Mark) Wilson of Cahokia, IL; Steven Earl (Patricia) Edwards of Cahokia, IL, and Charles V. (Theresa) Edwards, Jr. of Waterloo, IL; a sister, Rebecca Smith of St. Louis, MO; three grandaughters, Jenninie Littlefield of O'Fallon, IL, Catrina (Dallas) Crable of Dupo, IL, and Alyssa Edwards of Kirkwood, MO; and five great grandchildren, Avery, Brandon, Cash, Presley, and Hunter.  He was also a dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend.
