Charles Henry Smith, 80 of Cahokia, Illinois, born on October 14, 1937 in Jackson County, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2018, at Memorial Hospital in Shiloh, Illinois.

Mr. Smith was a U.S. Navy Veteran and retired from General Motors in Wentzville, MO. He was a member of United Auto Workers, and Emeth Lodge 1030 A.F. and A.M. in Cahokia, IL. He loved to play the drums and various instruments, not to mention that he had a beautiful singing voice. He was known as Jack of all trades, he could fix most things.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Nancy Smith and a brother-in-law, Harry Mardirosian Jr.

Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Janet M. Smith, nee Bey; his children, Roxann Smith-Halsey of Columbia, IL., Brian (Sha Green)Smith of South County, MO. and Shelly Smith of Cahokia, IL; a sister, Norma Mardirosian of Columbia, IL; a brother, Bud (Carol) Smith of Granite City, IL; three grandchildren, Brock (Mateesha) Hunt of Belleville, IL., Brittany Halsey of Columbia, IL.,and Brian (Drea) Smith II of Mountain Home, ID; and five great grandchildren. He was also a dear uncle, cousin and friend to many.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 13, 2018, and from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Braun Family Funeral Home, 265 Quarry Road, Columbia, Illinois

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri.
