Carolyn Kay Heatherly, nee Pittman, 86, of Cahokia, IL, born January 29, 1936 in DuQuoin, IL, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, O'Fallon, IL.

Carolyn was retired from Cahokia School Dist 187, where she was the special education teacher for 35 years at the high school. She is a member of the Teachers Union (AFT), an avid reader and a world traveler. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren; loved her pets Cody and Cuddles; and was very proud of her children who served our country.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wally E. Heatherly; her parents, Milford and Rose, nee Hresil, Pittman; a sister, Barbara E. Pittman; a brother, Hiram Pittman; brother-in-law, Robert E. McMillan;; and nephews, Curt McMillan and Brett Pittman.

Surviving are her children; Christopher (Patricia) Heatherly of Cahokia, IL and Laura Heatherly-Reiss of Stevensville, MD; a;sister, Sue McMillan of Cahokia, IL; grandchildren, Christopher (Jodonna) Heatherly of O'Fallon, IL, Sierra (Connor) Burpee of Affton, MO, Kerstin (Mike Dempsey) Reiss of Riviera Beach, MD, Jonathan (Ashley) Heatherly of Nashville, IL, Timothy Heatherly of Affton, MO, and Matthew Reiss of Stevensville, MD; great grandchildren; Kailey, Keeley, Danika, Kinsley, Ellie, Jonathan and Sophia.; and. two nephews, Tim McMillan of Columbia, IL, and David (Sheila) Pittman of Tucson, AZ. Carolyn was also a dear friend to many.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 12, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Braun Colonial Funeral Home, Cahokia, IL.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023 at 10:00 am at the funeral home Her grandson Timothy Heatherly will read the eulogy. Graveside services will be at 1:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in DuQuoin, IL.
