CALVIN "CAL" J. BREWER, 89, of Cahokia, Illinois, born February 23, 1928, in Prairie du Rocher, Illinois, died Saturday, July 8, 2017, in Columbia, Illinois.

Cal was the former owner/operator of C & J Improvements in Cahokia, IL. He was a retired member of the Cahokia Volunteer Fire Dept. and he served in the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Brewer, nee Buss; his parents, Lucian and Irma, nee Mudd, Brewer; three brothers, Charlie, Sylvan, and Robert Brewer; and a sister, Fern Loesche.

Surviving are his children, John (Anita) Brewer of Waterloo, IL and Leah (Robert) Acup of Columbia, IL; two brothers, Marshall (Carmaline) Brewer and Adrian (Betty) Brewer; three sisters, Rose Eggemeyer, Rita Lawrence, and Violet Capps; two grandsons, Ryan (Sonia) Brewer and Ezra Acup; two great grandchildren, Sophie and Dylan. He was a dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend.

Memorials may be made to the family.

A private burial will be held at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Red Bud, Illinois, at a later date. Arrangements were handled by Braun Family Funeral Home, Columbia, Illinois.
