Bobby L. Sumpter, 37 of Cahokia, IL, born March 3, 1986 in Centreville, IL, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at his residence.

Bobby was an amazing, son and brother. He was an amazing bowler for the Cahokia High School and had bowled a 300 game.  Bobby was the guy that would do anything for you - he might gripe about it while he was doing it, but he would get it done. He helped his grandma out everyday; he was our handyman. In his free time, he liked to have fun playing slots and socializing with his friends.  He was loved by many and he will be greatly missed.  He was one of a kind and was very special to us.  He will always be in our hearts.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Thomas N. Carrico; grandparents, Ovie and Annabelle Sumpter ;two uncles, James Carrico and Wyman Sumpter; and two aunts, Ann Seibert and Tina Sumpter.

Surviving are his mother, Michelle "Shelly" Lawson, nee Carrico and stepfather, Logan Lawson, of Cahokia, IL; sister, Cherie (Jason) Belosi of St. Louis, MO; grandmother, Dorothy Carrico of Cahokia, IL; niece Carissa and nephew, Joseph (Joey);and  birth father, James Sumpter. He was also a dear nephew, cousin and friend.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Braun Colonial Funeral Home Cahokia, IL. Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Father Evaristus Akabueze officiating. Burial will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery Belleville, IL.
