Obituary

Bobbie Ray Comte, 83, of Cahokia, Illinois, born December 14, 1942 in Murphysboro, Illinois, died Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at St. Paul's Home in Belleville, Illinois.

Bobbie retired from PD George & Co. in St. Louis, MO, in April 2007, after many years of service.  He was a member of the NSRA, National Street Rod Association. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves. Bobbie loved his 1934 3-window Ford coupe, Ford Mustangs, and Ford's in general. (I guess you would say he's a "Ford Guy"). He loved going to car shows and the National Street Rod Association's (NSRA) Street Rod Nationals in Louisville, KY. He liked to travel and go on road trips. He liked to sketch and draw. He painted a character that his grandsons loved on a pumpkin every year for Halloween. He enjoyed westerns, Elvis music, watching YouTube car episodes, and, when young, hanging out in his garage; later in life, he hung out at Jimmy's garage with the guys.  But most of all he enjoyed being with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonita "Snookie" Comte, nee Naylor; his parents, Sylvester and Helen, nee Gola, Comte; two brothers, Roy and Cecil Comte; and a sister-in-law, Sharon Comte.

Surviving are his daughters, Barbara (Larry) Jones of Marissa, IL and Beverly (James) Faris of Dupo, IL; three grandchildren, Kevin (Thierry) Morgan of Cahokia, IL, Noble Faris of Dupo, IL, and Tyler Jones of Marissa, IL; four great grandchildren, Addy, Silas, Ruby, and Nico; a sister, Mary Lou (Tom) Viner of South Bend, IN; a brother-in-law, Joe Naylor of Cahokia, IL; a sister-in-law, Dana Comte of Columbia, IL; a special friend, Helen O'Brien of Dupo, IL;  cousins, Kelley (Bill) Kull and their children, Nicole (Mike) Bommarito, Jessie (Nathan) Hankammer and their children, and Stacee and Jim Evans and their children, Brian, Brent, and Bruce; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Friday, June 19, 2026 at Braun Family Funeral Home, Columbia, Illinois.  Funeral services will follow at 12:00 noon at the funeral home, with Pastor Tim Ritzel officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
