Billy L. Doolin, 95, of Waterloo, Illinois, formerly of Cahokia, Illinois, born December 4, 1926, in Murphysboro, Illinois, died Monday, February 14, 2022 at Oak Hill in Waterloo, Illinois.
Billy was a U.S.Army veteran who served during WWII, he retired from Cerro Copper in Sauget, IL. He was a member of the former Bethel United Church of Christ in Cahokia, IL. He had a good singing voice and has sung at church and many weddings and funerals. Billy loved to fish and hunt. He also had a love for planting flowers and his favorite flower was roses. Another of his great joys was playing ping pong with his friend Graham Rosenberger. Together they taught students at Parks College in Cahokia and St. Louis. They also taught in Belleville and two of his daughters, Deborah and Dianna and any neighborhood kid that wanted to learn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Otis and Clara, nee Etheron, Doolin; a son, Donald Doolin; three brothers, Harmon, Charles and Robert Doolin; and three sisters, Laura Tanner, Evelyn Doolin, and Helen Brewer.
Surviving are his loving wife, Shirley, nee Livengood, Doolin; his children, Mary Ann, Karen, Susan, and Jimmy (Ronda) Doolin, and Deborah Wilson Doolin; step children, George (Connie) Weigel, Karen (Gary) Zeller, Allen (Julie) Weigel, Steven (Brenda) Weigel and Dianna (Richard) Western; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. He was also a dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend.

Friends may visit from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Braun Family Funeral Home, Columbia, Illinois. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri.
