Betty Lou Risse, nee McBroom, 88, of Vienna, Illinois, formerly of Cahokia, Illinois, born July 3, 1929 in Parma, Missouri, died Thursday, October 12, 2017, at Hillview Healthcare Center in Vienna, Illinois.

Betty was retired from American National Can Company, St. Louis, MO. She was a member of Maplewood Church of Christ for over 40 years and a member of the United Steelworkers Union.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Risse; her parents, Fielden and Eunice, nee Pippins, McBroom; three brothers, Denver Eugene, Darrell, and William McBroom; and two sisters, Evelyn Rollins and Lena Rogers.

Surviving are her children, Ricky L. Armstrong of Bowling Green, MO, Robert Armstrong of Goreville, IL, and Christina (Donald) Shipton of Lugoff, SC; a brother, Jerry McBroom of Pevely, MO; a sister, Patricia Blankenship of Dexter, MO; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. She was a dear sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend.

Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 16, 2017 at Braun Family Funeral Home, Columbia, Illinois. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis County, Missouri.
