Betty Jean McMurry, nee Greer, 95, of Piedmont, MO, formerly of Cahokia, IL, born September 1, 1925 in East St. Louis, IL, died Monday, December 28, 2020, at Clark's Mountain Nursing Center, Piedmont, MO.

Betty was retired from Our Lady of the Snows Hotel in Belleville, IL. She had also previously work as the Banquet Manager at Ramada Inn in Fairview Heights, IL and as a letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office in East St. Louis, IL. She had previously attended both Summers and Brown Business Colleges. She was a member of N.A.L.C. Branch 319.

She was preceded in death by her father and step mother, Francis and Alice Greer; mother and step father, Hazel nee Cater, and John Gertiser; an infant daughter, Janet Sue McMurry; and a step brother, Robert Doney.

Surviving are her children, Sandra Kay (Wayne) Bearden of Piedmont, MO, Judith Rae Westmoreland of Mehlville, MO, Bruce William (Lockie) McMurry of Patterson, MO, Steven Edward (Betty Sanders) McMurry of Waterloo, IL, and Kevin Guy (T.J.) McMurry of Plattsburg, MO; a half brother, Frank Greer of St. Louis, MO; six grandchildren, Devin (Tracey) Clyburn of Patterson, MO, Shannon Kay (Earl) Mumper of Piedmont, MO, Eric Dean (Erin) Westmoreland of Lake St. Louis, MO, Jason (Penny) McMurry of Annapolis, MO, Jaron (Belinda) McMurry of Cape Girardeau, MO, and Christie McMurry of Plattsburg, MO; five great grandchildren, Dillan Sutton, Champ McMurry, Taylor McMurry, Robert (Britney) Mumper and Dalton (Ashley) Mumper. and two great great grandchildren, Grant Westmoreland and Ellie Mumper. She was also a dear aunt cousin, and friend.

Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2021, at Braun Colonial Funeral Home, Cahokia, Illinois. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. with her grandsons officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois. CDC guidelines will be followed.
